The mission of The Del Ray Montessori School is to create a carefully prepared learning environment that will nurture the spirit of the child, guiding each child along a path toward reaching his or her full potential for learning. We achieve this through:
Providing a safe, stable, and academically stimulating environment for children guided by the principles of the Montessori method of education as supported by Association Montessori Internationale (AMI);
Fostering the child’s innate curiosity and strong desire to learn through the implementation of a curriculum that is scientifically based on the development of the child;
Helping each child develop independence, self-motivation, independent thinking, confidence with character, and a strong sense of community;
Fostering a joyful, lifelong love of learning;
Cultivating parent and community involvement to support the growth and development of children in a collaborative effort with the school.
The Del Ray Montessori School offers parenting classes for parents and their child periodically throughout the school year. This Saturday morning class offers parents valuable insight into child development and the amazing growth of their own child as parent and child interact in a classroom with developmentally appropriate materials. Parents receive ideas about activities to engage in with their child and tips for ways to interact and enjoy their unique child. The class becomes a small community where parents can share questions and receive support while discussing child development from a Montessori perspective. The class is led by a Montessori trained educator and parent.
The Del Ray Montessori School
The Del Ray Montessori School currently has two established primary classrooms (ages 2 1/2 – 6) and one established elementary classroom (ages 6 – 12). In October, we will be adding an additional primary program, and in November, we will be adding a new Young Children’s Community (toddlers ages 18 months – 2 ½ years).
Enrollment for our toddler, primary and elementary programs are determined based on the needs of the classrooms, taking into consideration age and gender of the applicants and balancing each classroom accordingly. First consideration is given to siblings of currently enrolled families, children with previous Montessori experience and to those families who submit their applications on time.
Please contact the school to for more information on registration for our new programs.
