Dedicated caregivers who truly care about kids!
My son N, born in Apr 2017, is currently enrolled in A&D STARS Chinese/English Dual Immersion Preschool Program. I felt truly blessed to have Teacher Zhou and her crew as caregiver for my son who has special needs.
In early 2019, N has shown sign of language delay and traits of autism and he had his evaluation with the Frederick County and diagnosed as autism in March 2020. He is deemed eligible for special education and enrolled in Sugar Loaf Elemental School in 2020.
We enrolled N in A&D in Feb 2020. The daycare looks very tidy, neat, and well organized. We’ve been transparent about N's diagnose and the special education program when we first meet with Mrs. Zhou. Mrs. Zhou welcomed us without any hesitation, and she showed great patience and caring for my son.
As we stay in the program, Mrs. Zhou demonstrated repeatedly how much she and her crew care about the kids. She is truly a dedicated care giver who puts the children’s wellbeing as priority. She cheers wholehearted on every progress my son has made.
Mrs. Zhou is very detail oriented, and she’ll pay attention to observe what N’s doing well and where he can improve. She actively communicates and work with us to make plans for N. Ever since my son joined A&D, I have seen so much progress in just a few months. N speaks a lot more, plays a lot more with kids, engages a lot better in circle time and he even started reading with me. On top of it, N always seems happy in the daycare. I cannot thank Mrs. Zhou enough for how much effort she and her crew have put into.
Below are some examples, and Mrs. Zhou and Mrs. Bu have done a lot more than what’s listed here. I understand many of the things might look easy for a normal kid, but it’s nothing trivial or easy for a kid with autism.
1. N always rely on us to wash his hands. Mrs. Zhou and Mrs. Bu quickly observed that and they’ve tried many different ways to encourage him and communicated with me what works and what doesn’t. Finally, N learned to wash his hands independently.
2. N was not very engaging in the circle time. Mrs Zhou and Mrs Bu will design contents that’s tuned to N’s interests to boost his engagement. In the last few weeks, N even led some of the activities. Mrs. Zhou immediately shared the video and news with me. You can hear so much excitement and happiness in her voice.
3. N joined A&D barely speak anything and if any, no more than 1 – 2 words. Now he can speak short sentences in some appropriate situations, and he learned many phrases and applied them in different situations.
4. Mrs. Zhou and Mrs. Bu are working with me on potty train N.
5. N shows much better engagement playing with other kids and show cares for other kids.
6. N wasn’t interested in books at all, and now he enjoys books and even some story books.
7. Mrs. Zhou is very committed to work with us to facilitate C’s special program at the public school.
In summary, the facility of A&D looks very tidy and well kept. Mrs. Zhou and Mrs. Bu are such kind person and committed care-giver who put children’s well-being as priority. I cannot thank them enough about how much they cared for my son. N has gained so much confidence and stayed very happily in the A&D childcare. We felt truly blessed and we will strongly recommend this daycare!
