East Hill Playhouse, Lorton

Welcome to East Hill Playhouse, my home-based daycare and preschool in Lorton, VA. I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 12 years of experience in child care and early childhood education. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Psychology and I’m CPR & First-aid certified. At my daycare, you can be sure that your little one will receive plenty of individual attention since I only take a maximum of 4 children. As a mother of 2 myself, I can relate to your concerns when it comes to finding a safe, yet fun and affordable daycare program.

My goal is to help every child develop self-confidence and demonstrate pro-social behaviors such as cooperation, sharing and taking turns. I will also focus on enhancing their problem-solving skills, expanding their critical thinking skills, and building a lifelong love of learning. Children learn best through Play, which is why I follow the Play-based teaching philosophy and offer a playful learning environment. My program has educational series such as Child Craft, World Book, Young Scientist, as well as a variety of interesting storybooks. I also engage my students in educational activities (e.g. reading, writing, self-improvement activities, fun & games, computers, and much more!). My curriculum includes teaching the kids colors, shapes, ABCs, numbers, table manners, and singing animal songs. I have several activity sets for infants that help them learn colors and shapes through sounds and lights. My daycare has swinging bassinets, blocks, puzzles, organized bins of smaller hand toys, learning curriculum posters, and a library to read books during circle time. I have indoor games for children to play after school and assist them with their schoolwork and reading skills. If weather permits, I take them to a nearby neighborhood park so they can exercise and have fun.

My home daycare and preschool is open year-round from 6:30 to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. I provide full-time and part-time child care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers between the age of 1 month and 5 years old. Before and after school care are both available for school-age kids, up to 13 years old (my facility is close to Gunston Elementary School and Lorton Station Elementary school). If you prefer, I can arrange transportation for your child (not included in the tuition). I’m part of the USDA food program and I serve peanut-free lunch and snacks to all children attending my program (already included in the tuition).

We clean toys that go in kids' mouths daily, and if a child has a runny nose, fever, or constant cough, parents are asked to pick them up. We also vacuum and steam rugs weekly and sanitize toys.

East Hill Playhouse is in the East Hill neighborhood in Lorton, VA. My home is just right off Richmond Hwy (US-1) and Lorton Rd (route 642), near Lorton South Park.
