Christian Child Cares’ Curriculum is “homegrown”’. First, we look at our students' needs based on the State of Pennsylvania Learning Standards and other resource materials. We use research based curriculums (e.g.McGraw-Hill Education The DLM Early Childhood Express ) and research based age appropriate assessment tools to help us chose relevant materials for our students. Christian Child Cares sees children as a gift from God. Our children have unique talents and abilities that need the right environment and loving nurturing to develop. We believe in teachers actively engaging children in playful and intentional learning activities that will stimulate growth in the children. Our curriculum and lesson plans consider the unique needs of each child. We create an environment that help children develop a critical mind, a love for learning and a sensitivity to the needs of others as they explore, question, and work independently, within a group of children or with an adult. We help children to acquire knowledge of God; form healthy relationships with adults and peer by using a curriculum that works with the guiding principles laid down in Pennsylvania’s Learning Standards for Early Childhood. At the Christian Child Cares we believe that children learn most effectively both through purposeful teaching and play. Social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual development occur for each child at their own rate. Our goal is to offer a nurturing as well as a stimulating environment where children feel free to interact with the world around them. Children are encouraged to take the lead, explore their environment; set routine and understand transitions. The staff promote learning by continually building upon each child’s new experiences to further enhance their cognitive, social, emotional, physical, fine and gross motor development. Staff organize the environment into activity centers which encourage the children to interact one on one or in small group play. While building relationships with the children, our staff engage children in open-ended questions to help the children develop language and social skills and to stimulate reasoning.
