About Us
I’m the owner and main caregiver of this home-based daycare, and I run a nurturing and high-quality early childhood education program. I’m a mother of 3 myself and I have 5 years of professional experience.
I also hold a Child Development Associate's Degree and our staff meets all State Child Care Regulations including CPR & First-aid certifications. We also have undergone background checks and passed health screenings, so your loved one is safe in our hands!
Curriculum
Portage Park Kids Playhouse follows the Play-based teaching philosophy and offers creative, educational activities. Our program and activities are designed to develop your child’s language, physical, socio-emotional, and cognitive skills in a loving and intimate environment.
Our curriculum is tailored to each child’s unique and specific needs, and developmental stage. We strive to provide high-quality care and prepare our young students for kindergarten.
We encourage all kids to learn through play and participate in age-appropriate learning activities such as arts, puzzles, games, field trips, drama/musical theater, outdoor play, etc. We also learn about health, nutrition and much more.
In addition to English, I speak Spanish fluently and upon your request, I can teach your child this foreign language (our daycare is not a bilingual program though).
Program
We’re open year-round between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We can provide full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 6 weeks, as well as toddlers and school-aged children up to 12 years old. We also accept families assisted by the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) of the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS).
We adhere to and meet all the requirements for the Action for Children's Healthy Food Program to serve healthy and nutritious meals. All kids attending our program are provided with breakfast, lunch, and snacks (already included in the tuition). Due to possible allergies, we run a peanut and tree-nut free environment.
