Welcome to Our Ohana Center!
We’re a family-run child care home in Columbia, MD, specializing in infants, toddlers, and twos. At Ohana, we’re more than just a daycare—we’re a family. Our goal is to provide a loving, safe environment where children can play, learn, and grow.
Meet ‘Auntie Lexie’:
With over 13 years of experience as a preschool teacher, tutor, and Child Care Center Director, I bring a deep passion for nurturing children. I hold an MSDE credential level 4, a Bachelor’s from American University, and I’m pursuing a Certificate in Early Education Leadership from Harvard University. My focus is on creating fun, engaging activities that spark curiosity and foster a love of learning.
Our Program:
We offer flexible full-time care, last-minute availability, healthy meals, and even potty training support. Inspired by Montessori and Reggio Emilia, we follow a play-based curriculum that lets children explore concepts naturally, building their confidence and skills through open-ended, hands-on activities.
Learning and Play:
Our indoor and outdoor play areas, art and music corners, and reading nook provide spaces for children to learn through play. We focus on nurturing creativity, curiosity, and discovery.
Social-Emotional Learning:
At Ohana, we emphasize social-emotional development, helping children build emotional intelligence, form relationships, and navigate their feelings, ensuring they’re prepared for both school and life.
Convenient Location:
We’re located near Blandair Park, Jeffers Hill Elementary, and the East Columbia Library—places we visit regularly to expand learning and explore the community. For your convenience, we also offer easy parking for smooth drop-offs and pick-ups.
A Village for Parents:
At Ohana, we’re here to support not only your child but your family as a whole, providing resources, encouragement, and care to lighten your load.
