Our day care center offers specialized programs to enhance the educational development of your children. In our infant and toddler care programs, a specific caregiver is assigned to each child and is responsible for most of his or her daily care. Each day, communication is sent home with the child to report on activities, meals, naps, diaper changes, and how the day went overall. A variety of activities are scheduled throughout the day, depending on the development of the child. These activities take place in small groups. Children ages 2 to 4 enjoy a program designed to stimulate their development in language, creativity, and cognitive learning, as well as promote emotional, social, and physical growth. Each week includes recreational and outdoor activities with rewarding learning, discovery and play experiences. We also plan weekly field trips to local and regional points of interest. Sign Language Program Children love the activities available at Lansdown II Early Development Center in Alexandria, Virginia, including sign language. Focusing on accelerated early childhood development, we teach these activities individually or in small groups. From the moment babies start communicating, we incorporate a sign language program enabling infants and toddlers as young as six-eight months to communicate before they speak. Infants aged 6-24 months are introduced to basic signing daily during every day routine and continuously throughout the year.
