Azalea Garden Church, Virginia Beach

Ministry to the Military at Azalea Garden Church is coordinated by Pastor John and Yvonne Wagner who open their home to young military men and women between the ages of 18 and 25 who are stationed in the Norfolk-Virginia Beach area. They provide a safe, comfortable, home and family environment where they can get away from their ships or bases and back into a “real home” for a few hours each week. Their desire is to build close personal relationships with the servicemen and women who come into their home to help them alleviate feelings of loneliness, boredom, stress, and homesickness by having fun together, eating together, and worshipping and studying the Bible together; basically, being a surrogate family while they are away from their own families. Servicemen and women are welcome to participate in these activities regardless of church affiliation, or even if they have no church affiliation. Transportation is provided to and from the military bases in the area for those who need it.
