Our rooms are divided by age and the children move up each year. Prior to moving up to the next room, each child will have a two-week 'visiting period' to ease their transition. The Children's Nest follows a theme-based curriculum. We have a theme each week that the entire school must follow. All of the activities that week are based around the theme. We strive to provide as many opportunities and activities as possible. On Thursdays, we offer computer classes for 2 -5 year old children. During the summer, each class has 'water play' once per week, where they can go outside and play with the water table, hose, and sprinkler.
We also have many special activities here at the Children's Nest, such as visits from the policemen, firemen, and Blacksburg Transit!
The Children's Nest provides breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day. All food is made onsite at the Children's Nest and is served in the individual rooms. Naptime for the 2s, 3s, and preschoolers is from 12:30 to 2:30 each day. We encourage all children to sleep, or at least to lie down and relax. If a child is unable to sleep, we will provide them with books to enjoy while they lay on their cot.
The Children's Nest has an open door policy, so we strongly encourage you to stop by anytime, whether you are a current or a prospective parent. We look forward to seeing you here at The Nest!
