The Montessori School of Cedar Lane, Holly Brook Montessori School, and Hunter Mill Montessori School are sister Montessori preschools, which have been providing Northern Virginia’s preschool children with quality education for the past 40 years.
All three preschools offer a complete educational and social environment and utilize the discoveries and methods of Dr. Maria Montessori to help the child develop more fully the potential within him. Each school provides a program specially suited to the needs of the child and offers individual attention to his whole development.
At each preschool we have fully equipped Montessori Primary classrooms, which stimulate each child’s natural intellectual development. Each class grouping is multi-age allowing for constant interaction and problem solving between children. In the specially prepared environment, each child is challenged according to his interest and abilities. Children continue in the same classroom for all three years they are enrolled at our schools becoming a tight-knit group where the essential skills of community life can be learned and practiced. Each class grouping has a trained Montessori teacher and an assistant to introduce new lessons (individual, small group and whole class), encourage appropriate social interaction and to intervene when necessary. Within the Montessori Classroom, the child is able to develop independence and responsibility, confidence and the ability to direct his own learning, creativity, and the critical thinking skills necessary to succeed academically. All children enrolled at our schools participate in the Montessori Educational program.
The school year runs from September to the first week in June. An optional summer program is offered each summer at Montessori School of Cedar Lane.
