Hello Parents! Thank you for your interest in Island Creek Kids Playhouse, my small home daycare in Alexandria, VA. I’m the owner and as a mother of 2, I know that finding a safe environment and a loving caregiver is important. I have 18 years of child care experience and I'm CPR first-aid certified. I run a small family child care program, so you can rest assured that your baby will get the attention he or she deserves (I will care for a maximum of 4 children only).

Island Creek Kids Playhouse is a year-round home daycare and my hours of operation are Monday-Friday, from 7am until 6pm. I offer full-time care for children as young as 3 months through 3 years old. I offer snacks to the children in my care, and offer a peanut-free and tree-nut-free daycare. Our play area is decorated with colorful painted murals of trees that create a lively and engaging atmosphere. A small library and bins filled with blocks and puzzles also await your child's exploration. The space is flooded with great natural lighting and boasts an open layout, providing ample room for creative play and learning.

Daily activities include playing with blocks, puzzles, reading books, coloring, etc. In the morning, during circle time, we engage with blocks and enjoy interactive storytelling with small textured books that introduce animals, shapes, and colors to our young learners. Before naptime, we have a delightful song and dance session to keep spirits high. After waking up, each child enjoys individual tummy time and a range of sensory activities to stimulate their development. I also make sure that children have playtime outside if the weather permits. In addition to English, I speak fluent Persian (Farsi) and can teach the language to my students (this is not a bilingual or language-immersion daycare, but upon parents’ request, I can indeed speak only Persian to your child).

I always maintain a healthy and safe learning environment as I know you want your little one to be in good hands. The floors are kept clear of any small objects that could be put in their mouths. I also take the temperature of each child at drop-off, and if they are experiencing a fever or symptoms, they have to stay home and return with a doctor's note. In addition to our regular safety measures, our COVID procedures are rigorous. I wash all toys in a large pool to clean and sanitize them. We also use safe disinfecting wipes to meticulously clean toys, chairs, and tables, providing an extra layer of protection for our children.
