About Me
Welcome to Bradmoor Educational Playhouse, my licensed home daycare and preschool in Bethesda, MD. I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 13 years of child care and early education experience. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and I’m CPR & First-aid certified.
I am an experienced teacher, and my passion is working with children. I just love being immersed in their world! A dream came true when operating my family child care program, a place where I create a nurturing, creative, and joyful environment for children.
Before opening my own home-based daycare, I was a teacher at a multilingual international elementary school in California. Prior to working there, I was also a teacher in Iran after earning a degree in communication. I am very passionate about art and early childhood education, and I am determined to expand my knowledge in this field.
Philosophy
I truly believe in creating an environment conducive to curiosity, creativity, and altruism. I think that a simple but organized environment, in which natural materials play a pivotal role, best serves my educational purpose and is productive for learning and growing. Most of my teaching materials are Montessori-based, and I have a clean, modern layout that creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere. My space includes a comfortable infant nap room with toys, books, puzzles, and blocks.
In addition to Montessori principles, I have also taken advantage of elements of the Waldorf teaching philosophy to encourage and nurture creativity and imagination in children. I have also added some elements of the Reggio Emilia approach to develop a curriculum that is reflective of my mindfulness of the children's different personalities. Having these differences in mind, I strive to instill in children a profound respect and understanding for the world they live in.
Curriculum
I have a separate curriculum for infants and toddlers to address their developmental needs separately. With infants, our activities include singing songs, practicing tummy time, and engaging in sensory activities while reading books. For toddlers, we follow the Waldorf Philosophy, emphasizing learning through nature-based experiences.
In addition to English, I am fluent in Farsi, Persian, and Turkish, and I'm more than happy to introduce your child to these foreign languages upon your request. Moreover, my assistant is proficient in Spanish and can offer language instruction to your child if desired (however, please note that my daycare is not a bilingual program).
Program
My family child care program is open year-round from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. I provide full-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers between the age of 6 weeks and 5 years old. I run a peanut and tree-nut free environment and can serve lunch (with additional fee) to your child.
