About Us:
Hi, parents! I’m the owner and director of Columbia Park Children's House, a beautiful home-based daycare and preschool in Burtonsville, MD. I’m a licensed provider with 32 years of professional experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Child Psychology and Economics. Prior to having my own daycare, I worked for another child care center as a Senior Staff and Group Leader.
During my professional career as a family child care provider I have kept myself up to the highest standard for which I have taken many college credit courses (including 90 hrs C.D.A., MMSR - Maryland Model School Readiness). I have also attended numerous training classes over the years which helped me to become a truly accomplished child care professional.
I run my daycare with my assistant and we’re both moms, so we can relate to your child care needs and concerns. We understand that being a mom is very challenging and stressful at times, especially for a first-time mom looking for quality care in a safe environment. If you choose us, we’ll make sure to treat your kids as if they were our own. I’m CPR & First-aid certified so you can be sure children in our care are safe all the time.
Mission Statement:
* To provide loving and attentive care to your children in a safe, clean, healthy, and smoke-free environment with indoor and outdoor play, loosely structured developmentally appropriate experiences, and peer group activities.
* To maintain a regular schedule, tempered with flexibility for the children on any given day. Also to provide a variety of activities where children can choose their own, which will help the children develop their imaginations, select activities based on their interest, and learn to interact with others without constant adult intervention.
* We do our best to meet children's age-appropriate, physical and emotional needs. Our staff will continue to update their child care skills through continuous training and be active members of family child care professional associations.
* Parents will bring a healthy lunch (peanut-free and tree nut-free), while the snacks will be provided by the daycare. Breastfeeding mothers are welcome to feed their children or they can bring breast milk for their child to be fed by us.
* The facility is sanitized and cleaned on a regular basis.
Highlights:
* Columbia Park Children's House is a small group: 8 (full & part time) children, with two qualified and trained caregivers. The program not only offers quality child care, but also Early Childhood Education. In some developmental areas, we follow Montessori-based activities with lots of hands-on activities throughout the day to keep children physically and mentally active and engaged.
* The developmental areas we cover on a daily basis include: Intellectually Stimulating activities, Problem solving, Reading & Writing, Math and Science, Sign Language, and Basic Spanish. The children have outdoor activities every day in the morning and in the evening depending on the weather condition.
* Age-appropriate curriculum with a variety of fun, educational activities such as learning about animals, shapes, and numbers, writing, how to become leaders, and good manners.
* We have an open-door policy enabling the parents to come any time of the day. We communicate with parents on a daily basis to provide an update on their child's activities.
* Well-furnished learning space with wall decors, educational chart posters, and age-appropriate toys and learning materials.
* We strictly follow health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of germs and viruses. We have a sanitizing station at the front door and shoe covers for guests. If the child is sick, they have to be picked up.
Philosophy
We always try to hold the highest standard; it is because we never compete against anybody. We have our own standards and we compete against ourselves. To begin with, we set our own goals and standards way above others and try to achieve and surpass them with hard work, sincerity and confidence. It is a wonderful feeling to watch the children in our care enjoying their daily routine under our supervision. Taking care of our students has never been a job or as a business. It is our PASSION and our PROFESSION which makes it the BEST REWARD anybody can ask for!
Program:
Our family child care program is open all year-round from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We offer full-time and part-time care for children between the age of 6 weeks and 5 years old. I can also accommodate children with developmental disabilities but at the moment, I’m unable to accept children with special medical needs or that require special equipment or facilities (i.e. rails for wheelchair). All kids attending my program are provided with peanut and tree-nut free snacks, which are already included in the tuition.
