The Advantage
We are also distinct in that we use a progressive curriculum with an emphasis on the arts and science at the preschool level. Social science research suggests that early exposure to these fields ignites (in even the youngest learner), a cognitive discipline, and a confidence, that will carry over to all aspects of their lives. The child who attends Hatch House School will explore traditional learning areas of literature, language arts, mathematics, science, technology, music, and foreign languages all in an age-appropriate and creative manner.
Our goal is that each Hatch House graduate will enter kindergarten exceeding prescribed norm standards but also exuding the social confidence and creative energy necessary to succeed in school and beyond, we are preparing our future leaders.
The Approach
Our programs and teaching approach are modeled on research based best practices in early childhood education. Quite simply, we utilize the best aspects of early childhood philosophies that are research based, whole-brain focused, and has a foundation in cognitive science-in sum, we use what works!
Our educational philosophy is largely inspired by the early schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy, what is now commonly referred to as the Reggio Emilia approach. This educational philosophy purports that the wider the range of learning possibilities we offer very young learners, the more intense will be their motivation to learn and the richer their experiences. Thus, we use a progressive curriculum that assesses children regularly, guides them towards achieving developmental milestones and then communicates these results with parents through our extensive parent communication process.
