Wilma’s Wee Wones is my dream come true, for as long as I can remember I had always been a ‘babysitter”. I decided, 24 years ago, to take this one-step further and opened Wilma’s Wee Wones Quality Home Daycare, a State Licensed Family Day Home, and 11 years ago I was thrilled to add my daughter as a caregiver here at Wilma's Wee Wones. I have grown as a provider in these years and have gained tons of knowledge and experience with every new child and family that joins my daycare family.
All children are treated the same, as if they were my own. I love my job; my “wee wones” and love watching my little people grow, learn and develop their own distinct personalities and identities.
At Wilma’s Wee Wones Quality Home Daycare my goals are simple: To care for your child, safe, loving and "homey" environment while you must work. To provide instruction for casual learning, sharing, respecting others and having fun. Starting and continuing along with you, the information, knowledge and intuition needed for your child to gain the right tools to make the right decisions in life. A home daycare environment allows a child to go about his day in a setting that is close to that of his own home. It allows, in my experience, for a more individual care approach. Children feel most comfortable and function best in a small group of friends, with a familiar consistent caregiver. Warm, positive relationships with adults and peers help them to develop a sense of trust and feelings of worth. It is important that the provider and families work together in order to encourage optimal development of the child.
We strive in our goals that children learn here through everyday natural contact with others, playing, story & music time and general child to child and child to adult contact, expressing their creativity, using their imaginations and having FUN!
We do approach traditional learning here by introducing the children to letters, numbers, colors, shapes and “themes” each month. But please remember that this is not a traditional preschool. Children that have stayed here till school age have been ready if not more than ready to attend kindergarten, then again I may feel that some children will need more teacher-student Interaction to prepare for the school setting. But this will come in time and you will receive yearly progress reports from me, which will guide us all in making the best decision for your child.
I feel very strongly about communication and feel that I keep communication open with our secret private facebook group that is updated quite a few times each day with pictures, reminders and notes from either of us, daily notes, text message, conversations at pick up and drop off and emails. I need for you to know that if anything arises, problems, concerns or even compliments, I want you to be as open with me as I feel I am with you.
The children are my main priority 'as is making my daycare someplace special that you and your child will trust, feel secure and will always remember. To make daycare operate smoothly, please comply with the Handbook and contract. It is important that you are aware of all my policies.
Again thank you for considering me to care for your child. And welcome to Wilma’s Wee Wones Quality Home Daycare. Wilma Raucci - Owner/Operator
