About

Welcome to the Child Development Program for the Claremont Unified School District. We were established in the early 1980’s to meet the growing child care needs of Claremont families with elementary school age students. During the last 30 years, the Child Development Department has expanded campus and community services to provide safe, supportive and active learning environments for children from birth through 6th grade. Programs include: Family Child Care Home Educational Network (FCCHEN) for low-income families that have a qualifying need for infant/toddler care; Los Angeles Universal Preschool; State Preschool; Afterschool Community Education and Safety (ACES); Best Learning After School Time (BLAST); and Summer Day Camp. The fee-based School Age Child Care BLAST program is available at six of the seven elementary sites. The program is available for families from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm Monday through Friday; closed all legal holidays. The After School Community Education and Safety (ACES) Program is offered to students attending Vista. Due to a limited number of spaces, enrollment is on a first come basis Los Angeles Universal Pre-School (LAUP), on the Mountain View(morning and afternoon) and Vista (morning session only) campuses offers a standards-based preschool program to four year old students at a nominal cost to parents. California State Pre-School programs are offered in morning or afternoon sessions at the Vista and Sumner-Danbury campuses. The Infant/Toddler (FCCHEN) child care program is provided in state licensed Family Child Care Homes in Claremont and La Verne. Each program is designed to meet the developmental needs of the children in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. For a more detailed program description please access the program link. All of our experienced staff members hold a child development permit or meet the No Child Left Behind requirements.
