Wilson Preschool, Costa Mesa

The classroom is set up following the criteria established for the highest (Excellent) score on Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale-Revised (ECERS-R) rubric,as well as according to the developmental needs of the children. We utilize several curricular programs, including the Hampton-Brown Avenues (a Pre-K Language Development Program) and Houghton-Mifflin Pre-K (a Pre-K early literacy and cognitive development program) to help all children develop the skills listed in the Desired Results Developmental Profile. We utilize strategies developed by the Center for the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) to support the healthy social-emotional development of every child and establish positive classroom behavior. At Wilson Preschool, we facilitate Parent and Child Together (PaCT) Time each day. Parents and children spend 15 minutes engaging in language and literacy activities together. Activities are aligned to the themes and skills in the Houghton Mifflin Pre-K curriculum.
