Children's Place at St Andrew, Denton

The Children's Place preschool offers a play-based and developmentally-appropriate curriculum for all our students. Our curriculum is designed to be flexible, thematic, and to foster developmental growth through active hands-on experiences. Children make choices from the intentionally planned activities provided by the teachers in the various interest centers and have the opportunity to extend activities through their own creative efforts. Young children learn through thoughtful exploration of objects and ideas in their environment. Children are active learners, who explore their world in a variety of ways. Play is the work of the young child, and we believe children are able to build foundations for basic academics-reading, writing, and mathematics-which make up a child's later learning experiences. Early success builds self-esteem while also encouraging experimentation and discovery. Planned activities as well as self-directed playtime offer children many choices, necessary for building competent learners. Specific lesson plans will be posted outside/inside each classroom every week.
