Oak Hill Christian School is a JK-12th school that offers an outstanding academic program even at the Preschool and Kindergarten level. Students are instructed in phonics and most 4 year olds learn to read by the end of the school year. Our teachers are nurturing, devoted Christians who are trained in how to use our curriculum effectively.
Oak Hill began in 1997 as a small school. Growing each year it now enrolls students through twelfth grade. Students enjoy at least two outdoor play times each day. Our campus also includes a small gymnasium that is used when weather doesn't permit outside play.
Much credit belong to our headmaster’s parents, Rosemary and Robert Thoburn (Sr.) They skillfully operated a school starting in the 1960’s. Writing and speaking nationwide at that time, they taught many what Christian education should be. They were instrumental in starting what became a movement throughout the U.S. in the establishment of Christian schools.
We believe students are able to learn far more than most today expect. So, we seek to recover the great academic standards of the past, such as those which were common at the time of our nation’s founding.
We believe instruction of children is a responsibility which God has given to the family. Therefore, we seek to be responsible directly to parents.
Our teachers are Bible believing Protestants. They are trained to work effectively and successfully. In search of the best materials, we have decided to use mostly curriculum from Veritas Press.
Enrollment in our lower school camps is weekly. Camps meet 8:30 AM—3 PM. An extended day is available. Call or e-mail for a registration form and fee information.
Kg., Pre-Kg. and Grades 1-6. Students will be divided into groups by age.
Our popular camps emphasize reading, math and writing as well as speech for the older students. Afternoons feature arts, projects and games.
Each week features an interesting study of a particular topic. Children learn through lessons, delightful experiments, crafts, reading and group activities.
