We utilized Tiny Toes Daycare full time from late August 2019 to mid-October 2020. There was some time they closed during the initial stay-home order. My initial enthusiasm for this facility has changed and I wanted to update my review.
Pros:
- Cameras throughout the home. Owner is willing to share clips of your kid if needed.
- Daycare parties are fun! When we could get together the staff put together really nice gatherings for kids.
- Cute crafts sent home from time to time. Loved the little footprints!
- Beautiful outdoor play area. Great gross motor opportunities!
- Different ways to pay (cash, check, fb pay)
Cons:
- Hours of operation. Pre-covid our contract was 7:45-5:15. During covid their hours changed to 7-4. You can request until 4:30 but it has to be a week and a half prior to the week that is needed. Good question to check in with if touring. They are very strict on their pick up and drop off times and will ask parents to come early for pick up to have the pick up staggered.
- Amount of holidays taken by staff. Staff takes 14 days off. This includes many "normal" holidays with a few days bookend on the typical holidays. One week parents don't have to pay for. Before I left the owner purposed another week off between Christmas and New Years. Our family could not swing that many days off. If touring, this may change so make sure to ask.
- If touring, and do clothe diapers, make sure they can continue to provide that support. Although initially they did clothe for our son, they stopped.
- Daily communication. There is no standard daily communication system. The staff will communicate via fb messenger if there is an incident. They have a great private fb where parents can get pictures of the day. How long they slept, what they ate, or how often they are changed is not actively provided. The owner will provide a communication card for about the first 3-5 days, but it did not continue. If touring, I would ask. Sometimes if we asked questions about our kids day, we would be met by the owner that our questions are too much, or that well didn't trust the staff. That was disheartening.
- The owner can be very difficult to work with. When asked questions, or is challenged she may target your family. When I asked about scratches I was accused of having "mental health issues". I have been told that "my mind is so messed up". The owner can be completely unprofessional. If it weren't for the two amazing staff she supervises- we would have left eariler.
Some people have a really good experience with this provider. I became to have my "favorites" of the nannies and on those days that I saw those staff I felt relieved. Some people do not have a good experience with this provider. For that reason and the cons list that is why I gave Tiny Toes a "2".
