Cedar Hill Children's Daycare, Silver Spring

Our son started going here when he was an infant and we've been very happy with his care in time he's been here. More importantly, he is always happy to arrive and start his day with them -- no clinging on to us or crying, which lets us know he is comfortable and content. Their actions during COVID have reassured us that health and safety is their top priority.

Our daughter seems to be thriving at this Family Child Care. She is especially clingy right now at 9 months. Yet, whenever I pick her up she is smiling and engaged in some sort of play with one of the teachers. She is excited to see me but not necessarily anxious to leave. The well furnished care area is always neat and tidy. Even more importantly, T. and her family are meticulous about sanitation. There are many clean toys and books for infants, tots and pre-schoolers. I don't pick my daughter up at the same time each day. It gives me confidence that she is just as engaged with staff and the other kids when I come at an unexpected time, as she is when they are expecting me. My 9-month old infant doesn't follow a curriculum but the teachers have been really helpful in getting her on more of a routine than I had established. The teachers' interactions with my daughter are thoughtful and encourage an active mind and body. It is also a bonus that the care is bilingual as it is important to us that she know both Amharic and English.
