CURRENT OPENINGS: We have an infant opening for a child who must turn 2 years old by January 19th, 2025. We also have specific part-time spots for 2 years old and above on Wednesdays and Fridays.

About Me:
Welcome to Connecticut Avenue Park Playhouse, my licensed home-based daycare and preschool in Silver Spring, MD. I’m the owner and main caregiver of this intimate child care and high-quality early childhood education program. I’m a mom of 3 grown-up kids and I have 16 years of experience.
Working as a daycare provider can be rewarding for several reasons, but what I really like the most is the opportunity to be a significant part of a child’s early life. They also bring a lot of joy and laughter, making the environment an enjoyable place to be. Seeing them happy and thriving brings a sense of fulfillment :)
Program:
My family child care program is open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I offer full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 6 weeks, as well as toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age kids up to 12 years old. I can also accommodate children with special needs (ADHD and Autism).
Lunch and snacks are already included in the tuition and provided to all kids attending my program. To prevent possible allergies, I run a peanut and tree-nut free environment.
Curriculum:
Connecticut Avenue Park Playhouse uses the Creative Curriculum offering fun, educational activities, such as puzzles, reading, writing, and painting. In addition to English, I speak Amharic and upon request, I can teach your child this foreign language (my daycare is not a bilingual program though).
We have lesson plans for children aged 3 and under, teaching shapes, colors, numbers, and the alphabet. Every morning, my young students have circle time where we discuss the weather, and the day of the week, spell their names, and learn about something related to nature. They also learn about emotions, kindness to friends, sharing, and saying "please" and "thank you" before entering school.
Location:
Connecticut Avenue Park Playhouse is located in the Connecticut Avenue Park area of Silver Spring, MD. My home is located off Littleton St and Connecticut Ave (route 185). I have easy access to Turkey Branch Pkwy and Veirs Mill Rd, so your daily commute to work will be very convenient.
We decorated and furnished our space thoughtfully, ensuring it is well-equipped for the children. We have highchairs, cribs, and cots for each child, as well as activity sets for both infants and toddlers. The child care area is covered with colorful carpets and includes books, blocks and puzzles, all organized by age group (for infants, we provide sensory development books that they can touch and feel).

My daughter loved the place so much that she keeps asking to go there even on weekends. The daycare owner is caring and very attentive to the kids. I never had to worry about my daughter when she is at the daycare. She provides meals and snacks. She reads to them and thought my daughter how to be independent. I am grateful for the time my daughter spent there. I plan to continue sending my kids there when school is closed.

This Child care is the best in Montgomery county, if you care about your child health and well-being. This child-care is the one for you. few of the things that amazes me about this daycare is the way she shows tender, loving care to these child, she she’s really amazing. Don’t have to worry when you drop your kids off because you know they are in good hand, I promise you, the way that she care for my son it just incredible, I would not trade this daycare for another she deserve an award, the best daycare for the year. The other thing is that this childcare does not allow any junk food, like candy chips etc. and I really love ❤ this, this is to show you that she is a mother who cares about her childs health and also your child health as well. (Come on now) please make your way over this childcare sign up. Trust me. You will have no regrets she is a really amazing woman. I thank you for all that you are doing great full.

My daughter has been going to this day care for almost a month now and she absolutely loves it. The provide goes above and beyond to meet my daughter’s needs. This was the first daycare for my daughter and we expected the transition from home to daycare to be somewhat difficult. However, everything went so smoothly all because the provider was so attentive to Maya’s needs and provided a very caring, safe and positively stimulating environment. I am very thankful that we get to send our kid knowing that she is well taken care of.

I'm very pleased with this daycare. The owner is respectful, easy to communicate with and very understanding.
She has definitely helped my little girl to be more independent and strong.
As a busy mom, I didn't realize that my baby was falling behind on some everyday milestones. She has taught my daughter how to hold her bottle, And has even encouraged my baby to eat more (My Little girl was a picky eater).
The hours are very Convenient and the daycare space is very safe, fun and filled with love.
I feel so comfortable, and happy with the love and care she gives the little ones.
I definitely recommend Family Child Care program!

My son absolutely love this daycare! Honestly I was a bit skeptical at first but my friend told me about this place and how the owner was so caring and friendly and they couldn’t have been more right. My son has a blast here in a fun and educational way and he always has a hard time leaving. I would 100% recommend this daycare, no doubt about it!
