About Me
Thank you for your interest in Springfield Forest Kids Playhouse, my home daycare in Springfield, VA! My place is a friendly, home-like environment, where your bundle of joy will be happy, engaged and safe. Here, your child's happiness and comfort is our priority! I’m the owner and main caregiver of this nurturing child care program. I hold an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and I’m CPR & First-aid certified. Before opening my own daycare, I worked as a preschooler teacher at another licensed facility.
Program
My family child care program is open from 7:30 am and closes at 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I personalize care for each child's schedule for nutrition, sleep and any other special attention he/she might require. I provide full-time care for 3 month old babies, as well as toddlers through preschoolers up to 3.5 years old. I run a peanut and tree-nut free environment and serve healthy morning and afternoon snacks to all children in my care (included in the tuition!)
Curriculum
I follow the Play-based learning philosophy to promote learning through play and offer fun activities such as workbooks, puzzles, creative play, colors, shapes, reading books, coloring and writing, speech development, arts & crafts, and music. This approach helps my little students develop their socio-emotional, physical, and cognitive skills.
I have a beautiful learning space that is colorful, well-furnished, decorated, and organized. I have several play stations for Lego blocks, activity sets, and puzzles. There's another area with larger trucks and playsets that encourages different levels of motor skills. My space is open with a lot of room for children to play and I have individualized space for each child with artwork and cubbies.
If weather permits, I take them out to my fenced backyard with age-appropriate structures where they can enjoy their outdoor playtime. In addition to English, I also speak Amharic and at your request, I can expose your child to this foreign language. At my daycare, I prioritize children’s happiness, safety, learning, and growth!
Location
Springfield Forest Kids Playhouse is located in the Springfield Forest neighborhood of Springfield, VA. My home is right off Franconia Rd (route 644), near the Springfield Commons shopping mall (with Home Depot and Best Buy). Your daily commute will be fast and convenient since I'm a minute away from the I-95, and a short drive from the I-495.

Exceptional day care! The owner & her staff are kind, patient, and gifted in caring for children. It feels so reassuring to know that our daughter is with such an amazing team all day, in a nurturing & safe environment. She loves to be dropped off each morning! We cannot recommend this program enough. We appreciate the communication and daily updates on her naps / eating, and love getting pictures of her having fun in new stimulating ways. Our daughter has shown such developmental growth since attending the program ; it is evident that she is cared for & treated as if she is one of their own children. This program has exceeded all of our expectation!

Our son has been going to this daycare for 3 months now and we are so grateful for how flexible she has been regarding the unpredictability of an infant’s routine and taking to his needs and preferences. We are so thankful that each of her caregivers also know our son well and are excited to take him each morning. Her space is large and is always tidy and clean. Her outdoor space is also great with playground and mat/play area for infants. She has been very communicative with the daily update/picture as well as communicating when she has a day off in the future which is helpful for planing purposes. She knows each child very well and I look forward to continuing to see how our son grows and learns while being at her daycare.

She has provided a wonderful environment for our daughter. Her team is excellent and kind. She communicates with us the children's needs such diapers spare cloths and food. Additionally, we are appreciative of the updates about our daughter's developmental progress. This is critical when you have two working parents. She informs us of the small things like needing to size up diapers or transition to a sippy cup to amount and types of food our daughter eats or did not eat. Our daughter is well socialized and we can't thank her enough for being an excellent care taker.

My son has been going here since he was only a couple months old. He is now about to be two. My husband and I are very happy with the care he has received. It’s always scary selecting a provider for your child but the way my son responds to the teachers and his excitement during drop off over the past two years has reassured me that we picked the right place. The most important thing for me is that he is well cared for and that he feels happy and comfortable while I’m away. That has been my experience and I’m grateful to all of the teachers who have taken such great care of my baby boy.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the care my daughter received for the time she was with her. This was our first experience and she made us all feel very safe. I immediately could tell Harlee was loved while in their care. She provided multiple updates through the day so we knew how each day was going, ensured Harlee was getting the right stimulus needed for her age. The facilty was clean and organized.

We love this daycare! The facilities are immaculate, and the “student-to-teacher” ratio is lower than anywhere else we looked. My daughter loves the teachers, and I really appreciate the individual care and attention they give her every day!

I am very relieved that I found such a fantastic childcare. You can tell she and her assistants care very much for the kids. She reached out when my baby girl was sick and at home to check on her. I have also been having an issue with getting my baby out of her swaddle, and she is trying ways to help ween her off the swaddle during day naps which is very helpful. I knew this was the right child care after my baby girl smiles every time she arrives and every time I pick her up….she smiles at her and her assistants. I can tell she loves it there and that makes me feel so much more comfortable while at work! 😊

This daycare is absolutely wonderful. Our daughter has attended since she was five months old. The owner and the other caretakers are incredibly nurturing and loving. There’s special care and attention given she's so young. We love the activities that are age appropriate for her development, including tummy time and outdoor time. Communications is great too. We get text updates with photos throughout the day on how she’s doing, when she’s sleeping, how’s she eating, and diaper changes. We get notified in a timely manner when she needs additional diapers, wipes, or extra outfits. The space is nicely designed for infants and toddlers, with a special area for the younger ones. It is clean and well organized. Our daughter is always smiling when we pick her up. We love the owner and the other caretakers, and we feel so lucky to have found this daycare!

We love the owner and all the teachers at her child care! My child has been going here for about 15 months now (started when he was 9 months old) and we love it. I feel confident that my child is cared for and loved during the day. My child loves his teachers too and asks about them on days he doesn’t go to school. The indoor and outdoor facilities are well kept and my child is almost always smiling and excited to show me something when I pick him up.
When my child first started there, she sent me several pictures a day which helped me feel at ease and grow comfortable with being away from him throughout the day. Now that he is older, she sends pictures when he does a fun activity or something new. She also keeps in contact with us regarding sickness going around the daycare, checks in regularly if my child is out sick, and keeps us updated on when she needs us to bring in more supplies.

We have been here for a few months. It is our first daycare experience. The provider and her team have helped us with our concerns about leaving our son at daycare for the day. The facility is great for infants and older children. We love that he has an outdoor location. Any questions or concerns that we may have are answered very quickly. They really care about our child and it shows in all the communications and interactions with the owner and her team. I know that they are helping him achieve his milestones. Every time I pick him up he is smiling and when I drop him off he is smiling. You can tell he feels at home there.

We've had our 3 month old at this daycare care for about a month, and so far the experience has been very positive. Our child arrives and leaves in a good mood, the facilities are clean and quite spacious, with plenty of room to keep the infants separated from the toddlers. The teachers also mask up at pick up/drop off to reduce adult spread, and inform us when colds are starting to circulate so we can be prepared.

For the past few months our daughter has been in the care of this provider and her wonderful team. Every morning when we drop V off she is greeted with nothing but smiles and excitement for the day ahead. This provider always keeps us updated on our daughter's day, how well she is napping and any milestones that she has met. This daycare has been so accommodating to the needs of our family and our daughter's schedule. This provider's space is incredibly neat, clean and well organized and not overly stimulating for the children in her care. We simply cannot recommend this provider and her team enough. We feel so fortunate to have found this wonderful community to care for our daughter.

This provider and her staff have been nothing but exceptional when caring for our daughter. From the very first day, we could tell the staff genuinely cared and loved her as if she was their own. Our daughter is always smiling when she gets there and it gives us peace of mind leaving her knowing she is so well taken care of each day. The space is well organized, clean, and inviting. This daycare works hard to meet the needs of each child. Our daughter is learning how to interact with other kids, reaching her milestones, and continuing to be a happy, smiling baby. I don't have enough words to express what this Family Child Care means to me and my family. From the first day that I stepped foot in this daycare, it was obvious that the provider and her staff possess not only the professional training but that they do this work from the heart. They love and care for the kids so much and pack their days with fun and stimulating activities. In fact, my husband and I call this Child Care "school" because the provider runs it like one - with a well thought out, balanced and age-appropriate curriculum for "her" babies. My child comes back every day happy, loved and having learned something new, and I am so at peace that she's being cared for by people who do such a great job. It's worth everything.

This provider and her staff are amazing! The facilities are very clean and roomy. The staff are always so pleasant and genuinely care for my son. He truly loves going and smiles so big when I drop him off every morning. What was very impressive to me and my husband, was her response to the COVID situation. She put in extra measures of safety that made us feel better about sending him back to daycare. We are so happy we found this provider!

We are so thrilled to have such a wonderful and loving place to take care of our 8 month old. She has been going there for 5 months now and we love the peace of mind we have dropping her off every day. You can tell they truly care about the children. We live right in the neighborhood and it is a blessing to have someone so close by in a warm and inviting home setting.

My son started daycare in April and I can say that we're blessed to have found this daycare! The provider's and her fellow caregivers are kind and patient and they are passionate about their job. As a parent, I can see that my now one year old son is turning a curious toddler and this daycare is helping him learn and understand his surroundings. I can see that this daycare works hard to meet the needs of every child they care for and I can see that in my son's development. I also appreciate that there is no screen time in daycare because kids then focus on interacting with other kids and learning from each other as well as learning from what the adults have prepared for them to learn that day. I highly recommend this daycare!

We have been taking our son here since he was 6 weeks old (he's now a little over 5 months). The daycare space is huge and very well laid out, with a separate padded area for the little little ones. The location makes it super easy to get to work via metro or onto 95/395/495. It has a good family feel, and the ladies are fabulous. We love knowing our son is well taken care of when we have to work!

Our child has been attending daycare for the past almost three months. We had a different daycare provider in the past and I felt anxiety every day leaving our child with her but not with this provider. Our baby is so happy in her care. He smiles, he learns (probably faster than if he only stayed home with me), and he’s happy there. He’s happy, we’re happy, and I can’t say enough good things!
