Touch of Class Day School, Virginia Beach

Touch of Class Day School is a private licensed facility offering an enrichment program that prepares the young child for the transition into Kindergarten learning through play and class instruction. I have a program also in place for the infant. My Day School only takes one non walking infant at a time into the program to ensure that this infant gets held throughout the day and needs are met right away. The Day School home is set up for the children giving them a class room , play room, walk in ball pit area, a gym and block room, nap room , fenced in playground area and a kitchen with appropriate sitting for different ages and the children have their own rest room with plenty of different books to look at while there on Potty training. Class instruction takes place four days out of the week with many opportunities for learning. I cover things such as early writing skills, early math, early reading, sorting, a Montessori lesson each day, viewing and care of animals located in the class room with locking mesh tops,art, water and sand table activities and a sensory station,pouring and spooning lessons, homemaking lessons ,flash card lesson, a puzzle of the day and Sign language lesson each day. We have music and movement , Musical Instrument time ,story time often using puppets,indoor gym time, block time and the children take a daily walk if the weather permits and I use a Walkodile that has safety harnesses on it that go on each child to keep them together and safe from running into the road. I do not take the children any place in a vehicle. I supply a daily News Report that tells all about your child's time at Day School so you will be well informed daily on what your child did,how well it was done, diaper and potty breaks recorded as well as behavior issues. My lesson plan for the day is also printed. I have two miniature pedigree dogs, my Yorky Timmy and my Maltese Maggie. All vet records are checked each time an inspection takes place and they must be up to date on those with no fleas or ticks present on the dogs. My animals are kept separate from the children having their own dog room in the home. Both are very friendly, just mouthy at times and very spoiled as you will see when you take a tour of my place. I have been married forever to the same person going on 39 years now. My husband is retired and keeps himself busy now with managing and upkeep of properties we own in the Virginia Beach area. I have only had a few jobs in my life with one being a bubble gum machine mechanic, modeled dance wear with a Company called Mommy and me and did this work alongside my daughter when she was two years old and from there I started the child care business. I am CPR / First Aid trained, member of the Professional family early education association of Virginia, City zoned to run my business and I also hold a City license. I keep my required amount of credits per year in the field of Early Childhood Development and all current certificates of training are posted for parent viewing. There is a yearly $100.00 enrollment fee and parents pay the tuition on Monday mornings or the first day of the week that the child is in Day School and the amount for full time care is $150.00 a week. All extended care needs go by the hourly rate of $8.00 a hour. Parents pay $10.00 for their child's emergency book bag. Each child is required to have a book bag and a lunch box clearly marked with permanent marker with first and last name and parents supply all food and bring in a half gallon of milk and juice for the week that will be tagged with your child's name. Blanket for nap time and an extra set of clothing are to be kept here at school. Upon interest in my Day School I recommend that parents make an appointment with me to take a tour of my place and meet me . At this time you would be paying the enrollment fee and given paper work that is required to be filled out by you.Your child must be up to date on all shots and I will need to see proof of identity of your child upon taking a tour of my place and enrolling. This could be a birth certificate, birth letter or social security card. I do give discounts for more then one child from a family being enrolled . I provide overnight care and care for date nights at an additional charge. I have rules in place that help make the business run smoothly and expect all parents and their children to follow them. I play the guitar, harmonica and the tambourine and I love to dance and bike ride with my dogs in tow. I was a foster parent for Virginia Beach for over 14 years keeping at the most two children and I stopped fostering when my two children became teens leaving me with the pleasure of loving and caring for over 42 children in the foster care system. My two grandsons were raised up in the Day School and I have cared for and taught children born to kids I had years ago when they were little. No, I'm not this old woman that cannot keep on top of things.I run and jump and get down on the floor with them for play and I am physically fit working out each week on a vertical pole for my exercise regimen. I have no company during my working hours and do not hang out on my phone at all during my time working with the children. My focus all day long is the care and teaching of the children. They are very well supervised at all times. I cannot imagine a job more rewarding to do as the one I have with shaping the futures of young people.
