Welcome to Sheila Home Daycare, a home-based daycare and preschool in Washington, DC. The child care facility is in the Fort Dupont neighborhood of Washington DC, right off E Capitol St SE (near the Anacostia Fwy, Pennsylvania Ave SE and the I-295). About Me: I’m the owner and I have been in the child care field educating young children for over 30 years! I hold a Child Development Associates degree and I’m CPR & First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained. I believe that early childhood education is critical to the young mind because we live in a fast paced environment, so my mission is to provide quality child care and education to help parents and children make milestones EARLY! I hold a Food Safety Manager certification and I serve healthy, nutritious meals which includes breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. However, parents are welcome to provide meals if they choose to. Due to possible allergies, I run peanut-free and tree-nut free daycare. I also have an open door policy and welcome parents to visit their children during the day for lunch. Curriculum: I am accredited by APPLE (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment), a national early learning program accreditation. I believe children learn best through play and exploration, so I follow the play-based teaching philosophy. My program offers extra-curricular activities such as Arts & Crafts, Music, Science and occasional field trips. My daycare has a spacious backyard playground where children can spend playing outdoor (weather permitting).
