Catherine Ferguson (Director) has been known all this time as "Mama Catherine" to all the children at Mama's House Daycare. She established this daycare on July 24, 1972 under the name Snow White Child Care. It was privately owned and operated in the comfort of her home. It remained under the name of Snow White Child Care until moving to it's present location (Mama's House) on April 26th, 1985. Over this 40-year period the motto has always remained the same - "to love and nurture your child as our very own." We have seen our babies grow into young adults, graduating from Mama's House and later followed their footsteps as they graduated from High School, College, and as they became parents. Our greatest thrill is for our past children to bring us their own children for us to love and nurture. Mama's House has seen a lot of changes over these 40 plus years. We have grown and matured, but one thing has never changed, and that is our true love for each child in our care. Our children and our parents come first, and we do believe in honest, open communication with all parents. We consider ourselves the parent's partner molding the future of their child. We believe in and enforce positive discipline based on love. While we want the children to learn while in our care, it is our mission to make your child feel loved, to give him/her a home away from home, and to help the child develop a wonderful self-esteem. The atmosphere and the quality of a Daycare are primarily dependent upon the staff. Therefore, we carefully select our staff members. Staff members must be able to plan, supervise, and implement our program in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Daycare. They must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with our Daycare's philosophy. They must also meet the Minimum Standards as set forth by the State of Texas. Criminal history checks followed by FBI fingerprints are done for all staff members when they are hired, and these are updated periodically during their employment. All staff is certified in CPR and First Aid, and all staff receives at least 15 hours of additional training each year of their employment.
