About Me
Hi parents, welcome to Braddock Early Learning Bilingual Daycare! Our child care and preschool program is family owned and operated, and we’re located near Braddock Rd and Little River Turnpike, in Alexandria, VA. I hold a Child Development Associates’ degree and have 16 years of experience in child care. I am also CPR and first-aid certified.
Our child care hours are between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time daycare for infants as young as 2 months, and for toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old (we have an early learning curriculum for preschoolers).
Teaching Philosophy
Our home daycare is Montessori-inspired and we can offer a bilingual Spanish program. I believe that young children need to be surrounded by love and attention. As a child care provider, I always make sure that children in my care feel safe, secure, and loved.
I take an active approach to learning by offering age-appropriate activities that will children develop cognitively and physically, but also socially and emotionally. I also promote empathy and generosity among my little students and help them understand and express their feelings.
Curriculum
Our curriculum consists of free play, dramatic play, circle time, art, science, cooking, music, math, and story time. Lessons and themes are prepared weekly and are specific to your child’s age and developmental needs. We have a strong focus on arts and science, which encourage young minds to be creative, experiment, and use their imagination.
For infants, we focus on forming a trusting and loving relationship with your child. We’ll thus cuddle, play, and spend quality time with your little one. In their first year, babies grow physically, but most importantly, develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Daily activities include music time, story time, and art. When you pick up your baby, you’ll get a daily report for feeding times, naps, and diaper changes.
For toddlers, we foster curiosity through sensory activities and arts and crafts, such as painting. Toddlers start to develop independence, so we help them learn how to feed themselves and dress themselves. We also work on hand-eye coordination by playing with blocks and puzzles.
For preschoolers, free play is the most important activity as they discover, imagine, and interact with one another to build social and emotional skills. We also foster their love for literature by reading and creating our own stories. For preschoolers, we also work on developing their love and respect for our environment, so we spend a lot of time outdoors. Preschoolers garden and grow flowers and vegetables. The curriculum for preschoolers also includes early math, science, reading and writing.
Food and Safety
At Braddock Early Learning Bilingual Daycare, we provide breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and evening snack. Our daycare is peanut-free and treenut-free and can accommodate children with allergies (I have experience with various allergies, and if your little one follows a vegan or a vegetarian diet, we will do our best to substitute meals.).
Most of the food we provide is organic, healthy, and nutritional. I believe it’s important to start healthy eating habits at a very young age (we provide (fresh veggies, fruits and whole grains daily.)
We take your child's well-being seriously. Our COVID procedures include checking temperatures at drop-off, we prioritize handwashing before and after nap and in between snacks and lunch. We also thoroughly sanitize tables and chairs in between meals and crafts to ensure a clean and safe environment for all children.
Facilities and Location
Our daycare room is spacious, bright, and colorful. The walls are covered with educational posters like the alphabet, colors, shapes, and numbers as well as children's artwork. The room is designed into early learning centers (drama, toddler material, blocks, and art).
