Welcome Kingstowne Children's Den, my licensed family child care and preschool program in Alexandria, VA. My home-based daycare is located in the Kingstowne neighborhood, right off Kingstowne Village Pkwy and Manchester Blvd (route 613). Your commute to work will be very convenient since I have easy access to Hayfield Rd (route 635), Beulah St (route 613), and Telegraph Rd (route 611).

I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 15 years of experience in child care and early childhood education. I’m CPR &First-aid certified, so you can be sure that your child is safe with me at all times. I strive to improve the quality of the services I provide to my clients as a professional child care provider by staying informed on the new child care laws and mandates, advocating for early childhood education, and learning new, exciting, and stimulating teaching methods and activities. I run my daycare with my assistant and she has a decade of child care experience. We’re both moms, so we have lots of first-hand experience with our own kids and we can certainly relate to your concerns when it comes to finding the best care for your little one. Our passion is child care and that is reflected in the emphasis we place on providing a clean, caring, and safe environment. Our daycare space is designed to be bright and engaging, featuring colorful walls, vibrant murals, and charming wall decor. We have bright carpets and various activity sets and toys for both infants and toddlers. The environment is organized with bins filled with blocks, puzzles, small handheld toys, and play stations for dress-up and home play, complete with kitchen sets. Additionally, we have hanging learning posters, a cozy library for books, and a dedicated circle time center.

We strive to provide your child with a loving, safe, fun, stimulating, and structured learning environment that will establish readiness not only for kindergarten, but also to prepare your child for life. One of the most important roles I have is to help your child develop the appropriate skills that will turn them into a lifelong learner. At the end of the day, you will be provided with an evaluation report to let you know how your child spent the day. The report will include what they ate, their nap schedule, what activities they performed, what their mood was like, and any other pertinent information you need to be informed of.

Kingstowne Children's Den is a Play-based early learning program. Throughout the day, my assistant and I incorporate activities such as play time, arts & crafts, music & dance, story time, games, and fun learning activities. I speak Amharic and I can teach your child this foreign language in addition to English (my daycare is not a bilingual program though). My in-home daycare and preschool is open year round from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays. I offer full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 4 years old. I provide two snacks to all kids attending our program and these are included in the tuition. We follow strict COVID-19 prevention procedures to ensure the safety of all children. We sanitize tables and chairs with Lysol and a bleach-water solution. Additionally, we ensure that hands are washed before and after snack time, lunch, and naps.
