About Me:
Hi parents, thank you for your interest in Rolling Valley Children's Place, my cozy home daycare in the Rolling Valley neighborhood of Burke, VA. I have 16 years of child care experience and I am CPR and First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained (if needed, I can administer medication to all children in my care).
I used to work as a medical assistant, however, I am a mother of 2 myself and I wanted to look after my own kids. So, I decided to open my own home-based daycare! My child care program is small, so you can be sure that your little one will receive plenty of individual attention (I will take a maximum of 4 children).
Program:
I’m open year-round from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm, Monday through Thursday. I can provide full-time care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers (between the ages of 3 months and 5 years old). I also offer drop-in care for parents who are only looking for occasional child care needs.
I also serve lunch, and snacks. Snacks are included in the tuition, lunch is provided for an additional fee. To prevent any type of disease caused by germs and viruses, I sanitize the toys and surfaces.
Curriculum:
I follow the play-based learning approach – allowing children to learn through play. I engage my little student in educational activities such as puzzles, reading time, ask time, etc. My space has colorful carpets, educational charts posted everywhere, and age-appropriate toys.
In addition to English, I speak Amharic and Tigrinya and although this is not a bilingual daycare, at your request, I can expose your child to these foreign languages. My home also has a playground where children can have fun during our outdoor playtime.

Rolling Valley Children's Place is located in the Rolling Valley community of Burke, VA (near the Rolling Valley Mall). I’m right off Shiplett Blvd, near Lee Chapel Rd and Old Keene Mill Rd (route 644), near Rolling Valley West Park. My facility is a few minutes away from Fairfax County Pkwy (route 286). Mrs. J. is the kindest woman and so patient. Our son is 3 and has trouble speaking and she is always taking the time to make him feel heard, loved and respected. She doesn't have an organized curriculum academically speaking but teaches kids to love God and love their neighbor which are the most important lessons of all.

The moment I walked into her home, I felt peace. This provider is loving, sweet, and warm. I immediately felt in my heart that this was the best place for my 1yo son Liam. He loves this provider and I know he is safe and nurtured. This provider is very professional and she always puts safety first. We are so glad we found this provider! My daughter has been going to this provider since she was 3 months old, and it feels like she is being cared for by a family member. I like that it’s a small daycare too, I think it’s better for infant care.

We absolutely love this provider, she is loving and caring. It was the first time for us leaving our kids at daycare and finding her was a great blessing. The place is always clean and she makes fun activities with the kids. I will recommend her 100%

It hasn't even been a full 2 months yet, but this provider has already been such a blessing to my little family. My infant son is in this provider's care 3 days a week, and so far it's been a great experience. She takes great care of him, is very attentive to all aspects of his well-being, and is very easy going. We are beyond pleased with the services of this provider. Our daughter is ecstatic to go there! This provider even sends us pictures of what and how Carolyn is doing.
