At Glocester Childcare Center we follow the RIELDS (Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards). We are working with the Center for Early Learning and Professionals towards staff professional development to further our education. Each staff member is required to maintain a minimum of 20 hours of Professional Development classes a year. We work closely with BrightStars to try and improve our center to the best we can be. Our program serves children 6 weeks – 5 years of age. Each classroom follows a monthly curriculum and weekly lesson plans created by our teachers. We firmly believe in positive reinforcement and redirection rather than punishment. At Glocester Childcare Center we understand every child is different and learns and grows at their own pace.
Meet Our Staff
Miss Missy- Owner I excitedly started in this field and on this adventure one year ago in March 2019. My daughter was coming to Glocester Childhood Center since she was 15 months old. I quickly fell in love with the staff and the school as I watched my daughter grow with them. Once I heard the previous owner would be closing the center, it broke my heart. My daughter would be losing all her friends and I would have to find somewhere new without the teachers that I loved and trusted. I was fortunate enough to have three of my teachers trust me with their employment future and stay to help guide me on this new journey.
Miss Ashley- Director
Miss Ashley was the Assistant Director for the previous owner and was promoted to Director due to her hard work, dedication, and knowledge of the field. All of us here at GCC are extremely blessed to have her to turn to. Ashley is an incredible asset to GCC and has been in Early Childhood Education for 6 years. She has her RIELDS Certification and has been lead teacher for Toddlers and Preschool 3.
Miss Becky- Education Coordination & Pre-K Teacher
Miss Becky currently holds a Bachelors in Human Development & Family Studies, Masters in in Early Childhood Education, Teaching Pre-K - 2 Certificate and her RIELDS. She has been in an early childhood setting for over 12 years and has a great passion for developing young minds. She also oversees and coordinates personal development classes for herself and all staff to ensure we are all continuously learning.
Miss Shauna- Preschool 3 Teacher
Miss Shauna was also previously employed at GCC and I was fortunate enough to keep her with our center. She has been working in early childcare for 7 years, has taught Infant, Toddler, & Preschool 3 classrooms and has her RIELDS certification. She has an incredible imagination and has a great approach on constructing her 3 year old lesson plans.
Miss Sarah- Toddler Teacher
Miss Sarah has been working with toddlers in early education for 2 years. She has worked her way up from a TA to teacher with her tremendous ambition, hard work and excitement that she brings to our children and our center. She is currently working with Miss Ashley & Miss Becky on writing her own lesson plans and completing the RIELDS.
Miss Jo- Infant Teacher
Miss Jo is incredibly loving to all; she is our Infant teacher with a heart of gold. I was extremely lucky to have her stay along from the previous owner to my ownership. She has over 20 years’ experience working in early childhood specializing in Infants and Toddlers. She is currently working on her RIELDS Certification.

And where would we be without our hard-working teacher assistants! Helping our teachers everyday with even more one-on-one with our children and keeping rooms clean and sanitized for the safety of our children, parents, and staff.
Our Mission Statement
We at Glocester Childcare Center believe that children are unique individuals who play, learn, and grow at their own pace with the support of their teachers, peers, and their parents. Being a smaller center, teachers can work one on one more often with the children as well as pair them in small groups. They can learn and earn support from their own peers as well as learning through play. We provide love and support along with a learning environment that recognizes the needs of children as individuals. When a child enters our care, they and their parents become like our own family. Also, through imaginary play, we believe that we provide children with the best learning experience possible.
Our Classrooms
Infant Room (6weeks-18 months)
Here at GCC we aim to provide a warm, safe, and nurturing environment for your baby. When first enrolling we communicate with each parent about their child to create a schedule that works the best for the family. We provide a monthly curriculum and creative weekly lesson plan that follows the RIELDS (Rhode Island Early Learning Standards), to help your child reach their goals: sitting up on their own, crawling, self-feeding, walking, first words, etc. Following the RIELDS we document and provide assessments of how your child is doing but understand that each child grows and learns at their own individual pace. Though Infant Room has no set schedule throughout the day we provide music and movement, story time, sensory, gross motor, and outdoor play to aid in their development. Each day you will receive a daily sheet to see what times your child ate, napped, when they were changed, the reason for the diaper change as well as daily notes of communication from the teacher of how your child’s day was.
Toddler Room (18months-36 months)
In Toddler Room we provide a nurturing environment with room to play and learn as they grow. The classroom follows a monthly curriculum and creative weekly lesson plan based on the RIELDS (Rhode Island Early Learning Standards). The curriculum we teach will help your child reach their goals in development. The teachers document and assess your child’s development using the RIELDS. Once your toddler reaches two years of age, we offer Potty training as well. The monthly curriculum changes each month which helps your child to learn new themes, colors, and shapes that help aid in their language development. Throughout the day your Toddler follows a structured schedule including the following: circle time, story time, group time, music and movement, sensory, free play, and outdoor play. Each day you will receive a daily sheet to see how your child did for lunch, story time, group, circle, and nap. We will also inform you of the times they were changed with the reason. If they are in the potty-training phase, we will potty times as well when they start to potty train. The daily sheet will also include notes from the teacher of how their overall day was.
