Our child care center is based on a Waldorf inspired theme. Our hope is for the children in our care to develop into independent, confident, lifelong learners with a love of learning. With each child we strive to develop: A sense of belonging, respect of others, enthusiasm for exploration. We also encourage: Acceptance of all children, focus on real rather than virtual experiences, meaningful practical work (such as cooking, baking, gardening, and handwork), and artistic activities (such as storytelling, music, drawing and painting, rhythmic games, and modeling that foster the healthy development of imagination and creativity).
We have also chosen to implement the play-based learning framework of Creative Curriculum for Preschool. Creative Curriculum is a comprehensive system of learning based on research and knowledge in all areas of child development-social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. Creative Curriculum for preschool provides extensive guidance for teachers in the areas of literacy, math, science, social skills, and the arts. As children make choices about where to play in the classroom, they are learning a variety of skills.
