About

Pastor Stan Cardwell received a Master of Divinity, Pastoral Studies/Counseling at Asbury Theological Seminary where he was a member of L.O. Society. He went on to Beeson International Center for Biblical Preaching and Church Leadership at Asbury Theological Seminary and received a D.Min in Church Leadership and transition. Pastor Stan served as Associate Pastor at Bel Air United Methodist Church, and continued there as the campus-teaching pastor of “The Vine”. The Vine is a “campus” of Bel Air United Methodist Church. “Campus” is in quotes because it is really a church without walls, gathering on Sunday mornings for worship, fellowship and formation, but the heart of the faith community is really in the home and marketplace. We have been called to “go” – to serve our community and neighbors. Our mission is to love people into a relationship with Jesus Christ and to share all God has given us with our world. We are a ragtag collection of Christ-followers who hunger, more than anything, to connect with the True Vine – Jesus Christ (John 15), and who deeply desire to connect others to him as well. Pastor Stan then moved on as Lead Pastor at the First Methodist Church in Berkley Springs, West Virginia. His appointment as Lead Pastor at Community United Methodist Church in Crofton, MD brings him back to the state, and affords him the opportunity to use his leadership skills and deep desire to relationship with Jesus Christ and to others. Children and Youth At the 9:00AM service we have Sunday School for Pre-K (age 4) through 5th grade in a one room schoolhouse type structure, with a mixture of all age activities and distinctly age appropriate activities. At the 10:45AM service, we have Sunday School for Pre-K (age 4) through High School. The classes at 10:45AM are divided into the following groups: Pre-K, K thru 3rd grade, 4th & 5th, and 6th thru 12th. All of our teachers and leaders follow the Safe Sanctuary policy that has been adopted by CUMC. The children start off in the Education Building-directly behind the Sanctuary building-and are brought to the Sanctuary for a Children’s message.
