Big Sky Daycare, Fairfax

Hello! I am a Registered Nurse specialized in Oncology. With much thought and consideration, I made the decision to step back from a career I love to be home with my children and begin a new adventure with Big Sky Daycare. I also have a degree in Interior Design and worked as a staff architect early in my career. I am an avid “DIYer” and woodworker. I enjoy working with my hands and building anything and everything. I have three little ones of my own and being their mother has been the happiest, craziest and wildest adventure yet! When I first envisioned what Big Sky would be like, I set out to create a daycare I would be happy sending my own children. As a parent, I understand how difficult it can be to leave your child in the care of another. I wholeheartedly assure you that when your child is here in my home, they will be treated as my own. The mission of Big Sky Daycare is to foster the growth of each individual child. We aim to offer exploration, imagination and creation through natural play and interaction with each other. Due to our low child to caretaker ratios, we are able to guide and engage with your child and build a strong relationship of trust. Our goal at Big Sky is to create a home-like environment where all children and staff feel safe, nurtured and enabled…and most importantly have FUN! Our child led play-based philosophy is based on the following principles: • Childhood should be valued as its own stage, not just a stepping stone to adulthood. • Play is vital to help children learn how things work and about the world around them. • Children will develop at different rates and this should be respected. • Your child’s emotional, mental and physical state are all of vital importance. • Children are heavily influenced by those around them, both adults and children.
