About The Staff:
Hi, parents! I’m the executive director of Fountain Hills Children's Center. I’m a licensed educator with 20 years of experience and a Master of Education (Curriculum & Instruction). I’m a certified trainer and served as a board member of The District of Columbia Association for the Education of Young Children.
Our teachers meet the Maryland State Department of Education and NAEYC accreditation standards (National Association for the Education of Young Children), which require a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), A.A., or B.A. in Early Childhood Education.
All staff members have gone through extensive background checks and are CPR & First-aid certified to make sure all individuals in our center are safe. We also provide regular ongoing professional development training, with a strong emphasis on teacher collaboration.
Program:
Fountain Hills Children's Center is open all year-round from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time and part-time care for toddlers, as well as preschoolers and Pre-K students up to 5 years old, including children with special needs. We also accept older kids up to 12 years old and offer before and after school care.
We provide a healthy afternoon snack to all kids attending our program. We minimize sugar and maximize servings of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Snacks are served family-style in the classrooms, which helps children learn how to serve themselves and each other. To prevent possible allergies, we maintain a peanut and tree-nut free environment.
Curriculum:
We use different approaches and curriculum to benefit your child’s learning, such as Play-based learning, STEAM, and Mother Goose curriculum. Along with this, our educational activities vary and are tailored to each student’s needs and developmental stage.
Toddlers: Loving and caring teachers guide them to develop their valuable skills through fun learning activities. Here, kids learn to interact with the world around them and also develop their independence.
Preschool (2-4 years old): At this stage, children are exposed to a cooperative learning environment where they can discover interest and learn in a more structured setting. Teachers strive to create a fun environment to make learning more fun and exciting!
Pre-K (4 - 5 years old): We do many fun, educational activities that engage your children and help them prepare to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
Our center also offers extra-curricular activities, such as STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), yoga, field trips, drama/musical theater, arts & crafts, music, math, nutrition, and engineering. In addition to English, we also teach our little students Spanish. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to become bilingual at a young age.
