Our Nursery School Program (Cubs) serves children ages 24 to 48 months. The Preschool program supports a curriculum rich in fostering language and literacy development. Each week, children explore themes through a variety of hands-on exploration. Children also have the opportunity to complete educational learning activities on classroom computers. Our program focuses on socializing in a group environment and self-help skills (i.e. toilet training and washing hands). Our caregivers guide your child through various stages of development as they are physically, emotionally and socially ready. As your child engages in play, he/she increases their vocabulary and language skills, develops their fine and gross motor skills and lays the foundation for higher learning skills and concepts.
Our Pre-K (Bears) serves children ages four and five with a staff to child ratio of 1:10. The Maryland State Department of Education approved curriculum includes the domains identified with the Voluntary State Curriculum to provide learning experiences to help children develop and maintain the basic skills necessary for successful school performance. Our lesson plans include arts and crafts, early literacy, language and phonics skills, math, manipulatives, science, social studies, story time, structured play, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, music and technology. Through a program rich in literacy, Joy In Learning strives daily to prepare each child for success in Kindergarten. We also offer half day preschool from 8:30 am to 11:00 a.m. This program is in session from September through June and follows the Anne Arundel County Public Schools schedule.
Our Grizzly program offers before and after school care for Glen Burnie Park Elementary School and provides transportation to Quarterfield Elementary and Southgate Elementary Schools. Our program offers arts and crafts, dramatic play, table games, puzzles, sports and homework time. In addition to the before and after care during the school year, we also offer full day care when schools are closed. Our certified Group Leader plans fun activities, including field trips on and off site, on full days. To learn more, please call us or send us an email.
