About Us
Newington Schoolhouse is a home-based child care and early education program in Lorton, VA! Im the owner and main caregiver and I have 2 decades of experience in child care! I hold an Associates Degree in Early Child Care Development, but Im working towards a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am also involved in local organizations that support child care providers and early educators.
I run my daycare with my 2 assistants who have 42 years of combined experience! We are all CPR and First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained so we can administer medication to all children in our care if needed. As parents ourselves and as early educators, we have the required qualifications and skills to care for your precious little one!
Curriculum & Philosophy
We understand how critical your babys first years are, so we are dedicated to guiding them through these very important developmental stages. We are also very hands-on in observing each childs learning and development. It's very important for us to dig below the surface and really learn about each child and how they develop as a person. At our daycare, you can have peace of mind and be assured that your child is in a stimulating and encouraging environment, where they can learn and grow.
We believe that children learn effectively through play, so were following the Play-based learning philosophy. This approach helps our little students develop cognitive and socio-emotional skills. In addition to English, we also speak Spanish, Arabic and Amharic! At parents' request, we can expose our students to these foreign languages (this is a wonderful opportunity for your child to learn another language, though we are not a bilingual or language immersion child care program).
Program & Facility
Newington Schoolhouse is open year-round from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 3 years old.

This daycare has been such a great place for my daughter. I'm a first time mom and finding a trustworthy place for her was top priority, especially since I am new to the area. Luckily I found this dayacre pretty fast and it was a no brainer after I toured and got to talk with her. It is very fairly priced without compromising the quality of care. Couldn't recommend her enough!

Great care, Great place. Very reasonable, especially with the pandemic. When the facility had to close for a week, everything was pro-rated. We miss her day care a lot, but our son aged out at 3-years of age. I would definitely recommend this Child Care.

This family child care is excellent! If not knowing, upon walking inside, you would never realize this was located at someone's residence. The child care space is as good, if not better, than most commercialized child care facilities. There is a separate space for the children to eat, sleep (area with cribs), play, and learn. We love this provider! We brought our son here when he was about 10 months old and I was going back to work. I interviewed about 10 daycares, and this provider was by far the best care provider we found. She made the transition to daycare easy on both me and my son. He loves going to this daycare.

I couldn't be more thrilled with switching my son's care to this child care. Since starting, she has helped to correct his sleeping issues we experienced with the larger, commercial childcare we were with previously. He is more engaged and watching him learn things from his lessons and the other children is wonderful. I highly recommend her and her staff a thousand times over.

I LOVE this provider's care. I had my son 2 months prematurely so I was understandably nervous when I had to return to work since my son was still so small and vulnerable to germs in the middle of winter. He didn't get sick once that first winter thanks to her amazing handwashing regulations.

This Childcare has been a blessing. I looked at other places, but as soon as I met this provider and saw the daycare, I knew this was the place. The daycare is big, very clean, and well suited for all the children. I like that there various environments and a nice backyard. The provider and the other caretakers are caring and sweet and keep constant communication about out child's progress.

Love everything about this daycare. My daughter has been at this provider since she was 2 months (now 2.5yrs).
