Kycc Children's Center is a full-day, year-round preschool in Koreatown for 72 children, ages 30 months to 5 years. Through our Whole Child program, we focus not only on intellectual development but also on emotional well-being, social skills, and physical activity. By nurturing children’s creativity and imagination by letting them explore their interests, we foster a lifelong love of learning. Since its establishment in 2004, Kycc Children's Center has graduated over 1,000 Kindergarten-ready students.
Our educational philosophy emphasizes respect for other cultures, concern for the wider community, and an appreciation for nature. We allow children to move through the program at their own pace.
Children can choose from a variety of teacher-directed and child-initiated activities in different interest areas: sand and water exploration, dramatic play, library time, listening stations, science, blocks, manipulatives, art, carpentry, music, movement, sensory activities, cooking, gardening, and outdoor play. These activities are designed to promote self-esteem, independent learning, and friendships.
Kycc Children's Center teachers take the time to get to know your child and family. We encourage parent involvement in the classrooms and our Family Advocacy program offers workshops in early childhood development and
We are especially proud of our exemplary teacher retention rate; out of our 11 teachers, the average length of time with the school is seven years. This creates consistency in the curriculum and a safe and stable environment for our preschoolers, many who are venturing into an environment outside of their homes for the first time. We have an 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio, and all of our teachers are bilingual in Spanish or Korean.
