Everyday in my home is child driven and productive, whether we are doing hands on activities or leisurely playing. We focus on the developmental needs and wants of the children present. A typical day consists of child choice times, group times, meal times and outside times. Outdoor walks or play (large motor development), art, sensory activities, manipulative (fine motor development), music, books, meals, rest time, and lots of one on one conversation to enhance social skills, self-help skills and self esteem. Sounds like a lot and it actually is, but the opportunity to make the most of each moment whatever we are doing, is important. Each day is different and yet still very much the same. Consistency is very important for young children and we are consistently busy.
