Hello, my name is Jewel I am the owner of Jewels Learning Center/provider I have been a provider working with children in a childcare setting for about 15 years I also worked in the Columbus City school district I would say eight years I first started in a kindergarten classroom it was an inclusion classroom I did that for about four years then I transitioned into a primary MRDD classroom working with students from kindergarten to the second grade and then I transitioned into the intermediate classroom which was third grade to the fifth grade and I did that for four years. I would say I really enjoyed working with my special needs children however, I missed being able to work with the little babies and preparing them and getting them ready for school and so I resigned from the school district and I started back up my childcare within my home in which I am licensed with the state. I have my certifications and first aid CPR, child abuse, communicable disease , and health and safety. There so many more professional development courses that I’ve taken over the years to remain current and knowledgeable I find that very important. I also have my SUTQ 1Star rating waiting for my 3 Star SUTQ soon. Down below I’ve given some information on my curriculum it’s so many ways children learn. Every opportunity I have it’s an opportunity to teach whether it’s through play-assisted cooking no stove(science, math) yet fun.
Jewel’s Learning Center curriculum contains a variety of activities both caregiver directed and child initiated. These activities are designed to foster large and small group interaction and individual skill development. The curriculum also involves the use of cognitive and hands on activities which include music, art, sensory stimulation, imagination play, and manipulative.
for active large muscle play each day schedule incorporates the use of outdoor play or a large muscle activity weather permitting outside if we’re not able to attend outside due to weather we have a large muscle activity room that we tend to use for that purpose.
