Baby Steps was created in 1992 and the teachers have lead and cared for hundreds of children of all ages. Baby Steps is a mixed aged school, which we know helps children develop empathy, agency and responsibility and respect for themselves and others.
We encourage family engagement and involvement and most of our graduates keep in touch!
Patricia Sullivan, M.A. is the founder and director of Baby Steps. She has gathered a diverse set of teachers, learning strategies and environments that fit well within the cosmopolitan spirit and rich diversity of San Francisco.
Baby Steps incorporates the California learning standards for infants, toddlers ad preschool children within the curriculum as a guide in curriculum development. We use an emergent design, allowing the activities to develop from the children's interests.
With low teacher ratios and such a highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff, Baby Steps is truly a unique learning experience for young children.
We would welcome you and your family to tour our school to meet the staff and see what adventures we're working on now!
