At Glenfield Manor Playhouse, we provide a nurturing and stimulating child care environment for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our daycare operates from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, year-round, ensuring that working parents have a reliable and trusted place for their children to thrive. Our facility offers both full-time and part-time care options to accommodate your family's needs. You can find us nestled in the charming Glenfield Manor neighborhood of Silver Spring, MD. Our child care facility is large, colorful, filled with natural light, and safe (we have security cameras). We're conveniently located near Brookside Gardens and Glenallan Elementary School. Plus, your daily commute to work will be convenient since we have easy access to major routes like Randolph Rd, Georgia Ave (Route 97), and Layhill Rd (Route 182).

Our play-based curriculum is designed to encourage creativity, social development, and problem-solving skills. We believe that children learn best through play, and we’re here to facilitate their growth and learning in a fun and engaging way. We have lots of toys, especially blocks and manipulatives, to spark their imagination and exploration. Additionally, we offer a good selection of books to foster a love for reading. In addition to our play-based approach, we offer exciting extra-curricular activities such as music and art to help children explore their interests and talents. Inside, we have a large chalkboard on the wall for kids to draw and express themselves creatively. We also love spending time outdoors! Your child gets to play outside in the morning and again in the afternoon (of course, weather permitting). It's a chance for them to have fun and run around while staying safe and supervised. Outdoor play helps them grow and develop in a healthy way.

Our dedicated owner is a loving mom of three with over 5 years of professional experience in child care. She understands the importance of a safe and enriching early childhood experience. Her goal is to help families in the area by providing high-quality care in a nurturing learning environment. For parents who want to breastfeed, we have a dedicated breastfeeding area. She’s also CRP and First-aid certified, ensuring that your child is in capable hands. In addition to English, she also speaks both Amharic and Urdu and upon request, she can teach your little one these foreign languages (our daycare is not a bilingual program though).

At our daycare, we believe in fostering positive behavior and respect through gentle communication. We use a soft and calm voice when talking to children. Instead of saying "Do not run," we opt for positive language like "We walk inside." When interacting with children, we come down to their level, making it easier for them to connect with us. We recognize and encourage appropriate behaviors by acknowledging what they say and do. If a child displays challenging behavior, we gently redirect their attention to other activities, friends, or learning materials. We also encourage children to think about their behavior and how it affects others. We promote problem-solving and empathy by facilitating conversations among friends, helping them develop essential social skills.

At Glenfield Manor Playhouse, we take your child's dietary needs seriously. We provide healthy snacks that are peanut and tree-nut free to ensure the safety of all our little ones. We offer two nutritious snacks each day and they are limited in sugar, salt, and fat content. Our focus is on providing wholesome options, and we do not serve sodas or processed juices. During snack times, your child can enjoy a variety of fresh fruits, including apples, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, mangos, chopped grapes, oranges, and a selection of other seasonal fruits.
