Welcome to Buckley Downs Children's Place, my charming in-home daycare and preschool in Silver Spring, MD. My child care facility is located in the Buckley Downs neighborhood, near Cannon Rd Elementary School and E Randolph Rd. I’m the owner and main caregiver of this nurturing child care and preschool program. I have an Associate's Degree in Biology, and before opening my own daycare, I worked in a bank for 20 years. Like you, I’m a mom, so I can relate to your needs and concerns when it comes to finding the best second home for your precious little one. Leaving your child with someone you barely know is worrisome, however, if you choose me I will treat them as if they were my own. I’m CPR & First-aid certified, so you can be sure your kid is safe with me at all times. My daycare has bright carpets, wall decor, and educational charts posted everywhere making the environment more stimulating for the kids. There is a separate nap room that is also furnished well with cribs, cots, and a diaper changing station.

My program focuses on Science, Math, Reading, and Music. I read books and teach children numbers, shapes, and colors. I teach both infants and toddlers at the same time, so infants can learn from older kids. I use interactive electronic activity sets where the toy recites colors and shapes when they press it. We have a themed artwork project each week that usually relates to the weather season or any upcoming holidays. In addition to English, I also speak foreign languages, such as Italian, Spanish, and Amharic, and I can teach your child these languages upon request. Although my daycare is not a bilingual program, this is still a wonderful opportunity for your little one to become multilingual at a young age. If weather permits, we go to my private playground where we spend our outdoor playtime. I take the kids out twice a day for fresh air, and I incorporate physical activities such as dance and sports.

Buckley Downs Children's Place is licensed and I'm open all year from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. I provide full-time for infants and both full-time and part-time care for toddlers and preschoolers up to 6 years old, including children with special needs. I can also accommodate older kids and offer before and after school care (my home is close to Cannon Elementary School and William Tyler Page Elementary School). I serve peanut and tree-nut free snacks to all kids attending my program (already included in the tuition). I work closely with parents on feeding schedules and nap cycles of their children to maintain consistent and healthy routines.
