Calverton Playhouse, Silver Spring

Calverton Playhouse is a licensed home-based daycare and preschool located in the Calverton neighborhood in Silver Spring, MD. My child care facility is just a minute away from Cherry Hill Rd, and within easy access of two major roads: Columbia Pike (US-29) and Powder Mill Rd (route 212). I’m the owner and main caregiver, and I have 16 years of child care and early childhood education experience. I hold a Child Development Associate's Degree and CPR & First-aid certifications. Like you, I’m a parent myself, so I know how stressful it is when it comes to finding reliable and safe daycare for your child. However, if you enroll your child with me, you’ll be at peace while away working since I provide safe and quality care, and I treat each child as if they were my own.

I believe that every child is unique and thus, I value each and every one of them. My goal is to create a fun and loving environment where they feel safe at all times. My child care program follows the Play-based learning philosophy and I offer activities that promote and encourage social, cognitive, physical, and creative development. I always love to work with families to make each child’s early years the best they can be!

Hours of operations are between 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. I can provide full-time care for children 2 months to 5 years old and part time-care for toddlers through preschoolers, including children with special needs. Before and after school care are also available for school-age kids, up to 12 years old (my home is less than 5 minutes away from Calverton Elementary School and Galway Elementary school).

All meals and snacks are prepared in my own kitchen. I provide a simple breakfast, a wholesome and nutritious lunch, and an afternoon snack. My menu is made up of choices from all food groups. The children are taught to eat family style and are encouraged to try all of the choices. I avoid artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, excessive sugar and salt as much as possible. I serve fresh fruits and vegetables everyday. Special dietary needs can also be accommodated. USDA Guidelines for nutrition are followed, so no need to pack lunch for your child! My facility is also a peanut and tree-nut free environment.
