Summerwood Little Children's Place is an intimate home-based daycare in Silver Spring, MD. The child care facility is located off Summerwood Dr in the Calverton area, near Galway Elementary School. Your daily commute to work will be very convenient since it is only 2 minutes’ drive away from Fairland Rd and Briggs Chaney Rd. This daycare also has easy access to major roads, such as Columbia Pike (US-29) and the I-95.

I’m the owner and main caregiver, and I have 5 years of child care and early education experience. Prior to opening my own licensed daycare, I worked as a caregiver at another facility. I’m CPR & First-aid certified, so rest assured your child is safe under my care. Like you, I’m also a parent, a mom to 2 children, so I can relate to your needs and concerns when it comes to finding the best child care for your little one. My goal is to provide quality care in a nurturing and safe environment where each child can learn and grow.

Summerwood Little Children's Place follows the Play-based learning approach that allows children to learn through play and educational activities. My curriculum is age appropriate (i.e. a one-year-old and a three-year-old have different activities and learning objectives). I teach them how to read, letters, colors, and shapes, and I start teaching them to write when they have mastered other skills. I also have fun, stimulating activities in store for them, such as puzzles and blocks.

I offer full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 6 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 12 years old. I provide snacks to all kids attending my program (already included in the tuition). My family child care and preschool program is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. In addition to English, I speak Amharic and I can expose your child to this foreign language upon request (however, my daycare is not a bilingual or language immersion program). If weather permits, we go to my private, fully fenced playground where we spend our outdoor playtime.

The health and safety of the kids are one of my top priorities, so we always practice healthy habits at my daycare. I also sanitize stations and surfaces, and I have a cleaning service that comes every Friday.
