About

CURRENT OPENINGS: We have an infant opening for a child who must turn 2 years old by March 2nd, 2025. Next infant opening is anticipated in October 2025!
Welcome to Windmill Little Children’s Place, our licensed daycare and preschool in Silver Spring, MD. We’re located off Windmill Ln, in the quiet residential area of Good Hope in Cloverly (near Good Hope Community Center and Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School). Our child care facility is located within easy access of New Hampshire Ave, the Intercounty Toll Road (MD route 200) and Columbia Pike (US route 29).
About Us:
I’m the owner and main caregiver of this home-based daycare, and my mission is to support families by promoting their child’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development. I have 25 years of experience in early childhood education, including almost 15 years operating my own child care facility. I hold a Master's Degree in Education, as well as CPR and First-aid certifications.
Facilities and Programs:
Our in-home daycare caters to children 6 weeks to 12 years. We offer various programs, including full-time and part-time care options for infants and toddlers, a preschool program, before and after-school care, and drop-in care to suit your family's schedule. Our facility includes a fenced playground to have fun outdoors, a multipurpose room, and access to computers. We also have a library filled with books to encourage reading. Hours of Operation: Our daycare opens at 7:00 am and closes at 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide consistent care year-round to meet your family's needs, including a fun summer camp. Languages and Extra-Curricular Activities: We believe in a well-rounded education and offer extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, arts, and dance, helping children develop their physical, creative, and social skills while having fun. In addition to English, we can introduce Urdu and Hindi, providing an opportunity for children to explore different cultures and languages. Meals and Snacks: We prioritize nutrition and offer meals and snacks as part of our services. Lunch is available for a fee, and snacks are included in the tuition. Our environment is peanut-free and tree-nut free, ensuring the safety of all children. Potty Training: We understand the significance of potty training and offer support during this important milestone. Success in potty training depends on our collaborative efforts. We recommend sending your child in easy-to-wear clothing and providing changes of clothing during this time.
Our Approach:
Philosophy: At Windmill Little Children’s Place, we believe that children thrive in an environment that nurtures their physical well-being and encourages independence and confidence. We provide a play-based and academic learning philosophy, ensuring that your child receives a well-rounded education. Children learn through play; therefore, we provide a variety of experiences to expand their cognitive thinking. We provide needed time to explore, and the opportunity to express their creativity. We also believe in creating an atmosphere of unconditional love and respect. Guidance: Our approach to guidance is rooted in courtesy, respect, and patience. We focus on redirecting younger children and utilizing time-outs for older children when necessary. We maintain a strict no corporal punishment policy and no child will be hit, spanked, or otherwise intimidated. For serious matters, we always work with parents to determine the best course of action. Inclusive environment: Our daycare is inclusive, accommodating children of all abilities, and fostering interaction and support among all. We understand our responsibility as a caregiver and will provide reasonable accommodation for children of all abilities and special needs.
Daily Activities:
Our daily schedule includes age-appropriate activities that are flexible to cater to each child's unique needs and interests. We offer outdoor play, crafts, stories, instruction, and naps, all adjusted to your child's age. Chores, such as picking up, putting dishes in the dishwasher, helping to sort laundry will likely be a part of the day. For infants and toddlers who are too young to communicate with you about their day, a daily report sheet will be sent home. For preschoolers, we provide preschool curriculum, developing large and small motor skills. We do many arts and crafts where the focus is on the process, not the product. Free play is also an important part of a child's early years. It is here that they learn social skills that will be needed for the rest of their lives. Thank you for reading our profile! We look forward to welcoming your child into our care and providing them with the love they deserve.

We had a fantastic experience at this daycare! Although our time there was short, our boys adjusted quickly into their care. They are caring, engaged, and treated us like family. Would recommend to anyone!

This daycare has been wonderful for Will. She has been very accommodating of Will's needs and has always worked with us as a family to do what's best for Will. Everyone at tjsi daycare is so kind and helpful. Will loves going here and has made a lot of growth and friends.

The owner and her caregiving support team are wonderful. They're so caring for all children and provide the kids in their care lots of opportunities to have fun and grow. She is very communicative and responsible - her flexibility and kindness have helped us on many occasions. For birthdays or special occasions, she also makes sure the kids have fun and feel celebrated - which means a lot to us.

Childcare is one of the most important decisions that a parent will make in their child's live. This is the person you are choosing to keep your child safe, cared for, and taught while you are away. The childcare provider is the next person that will be in your child's life for the most few years. This Family Child Care was one of the best decisions we made for our son. Even after he has outgrown the program we still drop him off on days school... more

I would like to thank the owner and her daughter for the excellent care of my baby! It was a short time we used this daycare but I always felt that my daughter was welcome. We were met with a smile every morning! The environment was safe and loving!

Our son loves being at daycare - there's so much to stimulate him, and the environment is such a loving one. We enrolled at 1 year, and from the beginning, the owner made us feel like family. Our son has grown so much - it's been so exciting to have him come home with new vocabulary, and to watch him interacting with other children. We're grateful for the care and flexibility this daycare provides.

I started my son with this caregiver and her daughter in April of 2015. When he started he was 13 months old. Soon after he started he began to walk and took his first steps there. He also learned to speak, saying thank you, and Mama. He also became more social and began to understand structured play. He also learned how to hold a crayon. I was very pleased.

My son started attending this child care in July 2014 when he was three months old. He is currently still attending. I first met the owner when she was the Director of an after school program operated by the organization I work for. I ran in to her after several years and was excited to hear that she was running her own child care program out of her home since I had just had my son and I remembered how great of a job she did with the kids in the... more
