It is our belief that the teacher and the parents are responsible for the total education program of East Columbia Preschool. The ideals of their cooperative preschool education will be accomplished through a three-way sharing unit of the teacher, the parent, and the child. The school’s program is based upon a desire to promote individual acceptance of each child by helping to develop the child’s capacities at his/her own rate of progress.
The preschool also promotes parent education by having parents assist in the classroom and meet regularly for the exchange of ideas. In a child-sized world where acceptable behavior is fostered, a flexible program of structure and free time will be provided in the areas of basic emotional needs, social development, and intellectual growth. Because East Columbia Preschool is a co-op, you will participate, under the guidance of the teacher, in helping your child adjust to his/her first major step away from home.
