The Creative Play Preschool has served the families of Evanston and nearby communities since 1988. The benefits of having a preschool in a community center-setting include being able to have students play in the large gym, the ice rink, grassy fields surrounding the facility, and at a variety of outdoor play areas in the neighborhood.
This program, defined as “innovative play with purpose” many years ago, has become a standard for the community center-based early childhood program. Our multi-age classroom provides the benefits of cooperative learning for both our oldest and youngest preschoolers, with daily activities which are developmentally appropriate for all. A broad variety of both unique and traditional activities are offered, including music and movement, and arts and crafts. Activities are both self-directed and designed for success. Children are required to be toilet-trained.
