The Montessori School of McLean (MSM) is a Pre-Primary (toddler) through elementary school in McLean, Virginia. MSM is open during the academic year (after Labor Day) and closes mid- June. MSM offers Summer Camp for five weeks beginning the last week of June through July and is closed in August for maintenance. Primary (Pre-School Morning-Stars) begins at 8:45am and dismisses at 11:45am. The program is five mornings a week for children ages 24 months through age 4. Children are eligible to stay until 3:30 on his/her fifth birthday (Lunch-Bunchers). Extended Day (12:30-3:30) and Aftercare (3:30-5:30) school care for children up to 6 years old. Children who turn four by the end of the school year in June are eligible to stay until 3:30pm. MSM tries to provide an after-school activity each day of the week until 4:30pm for students ages 5 and older. Three optional school buses run within a five-mile radius of the school. MSM is a peanut and tree-nut controlled environment and employs a school nurse full time. MSM teaches a Montessori curriculum and is accredited by the American Montessori Society which requires that head teachers have at least a Bachelor's degree.
