Hi parents, welcome to Home Away From Home! There is no better place for your child to learn and grow. We are a licensed child care provider located in North Potomac, offering a wonderful learning environment and individualized program to help your child reach their full potential.

Our program is designed to provide an environment where teachers support the nurturing and learning that the children want and need. Students are offered the opportunity to develop their natural curiosity and creativity and they can develop a lifelong love of learning. Learning concepts are brought to life in fun and imaginative ways, and enrichment programs are also available to expose children to the skills necessary to support their active lives, develop positive self-esteem and set the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. We stress the importance of a single, consistent caregiver for the majority of the day. This caregiver provides a written daily report for the parents. There is one caregiver for every 3 children in the infant and toddler room. Each room has a primary caregiver who performs the entire one on one range of care giving routines (feeding, changing, comforting, etc.) for that child, and with whom the child forms a bond of intimacy and reassurance.

In the infant room, our experienced caregivers is carefully trained to help babies feel safe, loved and well cared-for. They understand the importance of talking to the children, making eye contact, singing silly songs, cuddling and the gentle guidance needed by the children through the use of positive discipline. In the toddler room, the environment is rich in materials which encourage exploration, active, and interactive play. Once young children develop a sense of trust, we help them become independent and self confident as they develop social, language and motor skills. Daily activities include story time, music, song and dance, exercise, outdoor play as well as indoor play with age appropriate toys. Toddlers also do art and crafts activities each day using a variety of materials. The activities incorporate shapes, colors, numbers, and animals. We use Carol’s Affordable Curriculum to offer a preschool program for kids up to 6 years old; they are introduced to activities such as sequencing and matching, story telling, process-writing to foster cognitive skills, social skill and language and art skills. We have a large private backyard playground with bicycles, slides, swings, and a sand pit.

Our daycare is open from 7:00am - 6:00pm, for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Our learning centers encourage self-reliance and provide opportunities for children to develop their self confidence. Children also practice their decision making as they navigate from center to center. Children are encouraged to progress at their own pace according to their individual needs and abilities. We provide cribs, cots, sheets, blankets, morning and afternoon snacks, milk and juice. Diversity is an important part of our program and is emphasized in every room. We happily accept children of all races, nationalities and lifestyles. We will do our best to accommodate children with special needs.
