The Sherman ECC opened in 1972 and has grown to become the pride of our congregation. In the summer of 2016 our classrooms were completely renovated and feature open spaces and big beautiful windows. In the fall of 2016 our school will be building a state of the art natural playground. Last year we were named Washington FAMILY magazine's Best Preschool, Best Faith-based school, and Best Art Classes. At the Sherman ECC, we believe that each child is a capable and unique individual. Our program provides learning and positive social interaction opportunities for all children through a quality, inclusive and developmentally appropriate program. We nurture children and families in a safe and supportive community. Our program strives to meet the individual needs of each and every child and encourages them to explore their environment through meaningful, relevant and hands-on experiences.
Through an array of developmentally appropriate approaches, children develop language, cognitive, social-emotional and physical skills. In addition, our children develop spirituality and an intense feeling of pride in their Jewish heritage, as they observe and participate in Jewish customs and holiday observances. As early childhood professionals, we aim to give each child the opportunity to learn, develop and play to their fullest potential.
Our Director, Beth Hoch has been in the early childhood field for over 16 years as a teacher, team leader, and school administrator. She has a passion for Jewish early childhood education and creating an environment where all children are growing and challenged. Beth feels parents are partners and that we work together in the classroom, at home, and in the synagogue to nurture each child and help them grow cognitively, socially, physically, and spiritually through a variety of learning experiences.
